Between You and Me is how it starts. It starts with optimism, with excitement. It's the joy of finding something new with someone new. On a first date, you plan your whole life together. The wine you ordered from the waiter is more than a passing prop, it's a symbol for the shared life you're building. At first it's your companion at the dinner table, later it's the comfort you share after the kids are asleep in bed upstairs. It's an oversimplification of love, but maybe that's how it should be. Simple.

Downtown Again is the counterpoint to Between You an Me. The comfort that you shared at home is gone. You're back out, back downtown, painfully aware of the difference. It's dark, angry, confused. It's the empty loneliness you feel while surrounded by crowds of people, looking for that familiar face, but knowing you won't see it. Unwillingly, you trade the wine for whiskey and the love for loneliness.
